What is Cataract?
The cataract is a blurring of the lens in the eye which is either related (i.e., from an embryo) or is later created during the person’s life.
The lens is lenticular behind the iris and if it is turbid, it does not allow the light rays to pass and focus back on the retina.
What is the cause of Cataract?
There are various causes of Cataract formation.
First, the congenital Cataract occurs after birth or shortly after.
There is a Traumatic Cataract due to accidents, the Cortisone Cataract, the Cataract by prolonged exposure to radiation and the Cataracts in various metabolic syndromes.
In addition, we are more likely to experience Cataract in high myopias as well as in diabetics.
The most common Cataract is the senile that occurs in people over 50 years of age.
However, we rarely find Cataract in young people without apparent cause.
Cataract symptoms
Here we are talking about the senile or Cataract, which is the majority of the incidents.
It starts with difficulty in vision, which is gradually deteriorating. In the late stages, white tingling can also be seen in the center of the pupil. There is no pain or sting as some people mistakenly think.
When do we intervene? What is the treatment for Cataract?
Previously, physicians advised the patient to wait for the cataract to mature, which is no longer the case, and the cataract’s operation according to the patient’s needs at any stage of maturation. However, with the new methods it is preferred not to be very mature with a hard core.
The technique applied is phagocytosis where the nucleus is crushed, then removed and an intraocular lens is placed in place of the lens.
Nowadays even the refractive power of the intraocular fluid can be calculated and therefore the patient to be relieved of his glasses after surgery. In addition, intraocular is used for special cases such as large astigmatism and in some cases multifocal.
Anesthetic Methods
Today most operations are with anesthetic drops. Sensitive individuals also have subdued anesthesia as well as retroviruses that immobilize the bulb. In addition, children and people are overly anxious to use drowsiness and general anesthesia.
